Re: Anyone have experience with Octopuses here?
I kept a bimac octopus for a few months several years ago. They are extremely interesting but don't expect every individual to live up to the youtube hype. Long and short is that its a cool animal that requires a lot of specialized care and will not live long. I would recommend you check out the TON...

Re: MRC Nano Calcium RX
Bump, if anyone is interested make a reasonable offer. Hate to see this collecting dust.
I would also be interested in trading for a couple of dosing pumps in good shape.
Thanks

I have the dual reactor shown in the link with a mag3 pump, reg and needle valve, and tank for sale $300 for all of it. http://www.aquadirect.com/store/product.php?productid=21024 Unit has been running about 2 years, I've had a recent tank crash and am going a different route. The ugly: something tr...

Re: Bristle worms
It seems to me that the diversity of life on live rock is not what it once was, even just a few years ago. A lot of the aqua cultured and " pre-cured" rock just looks like purple base rock to me. I think people have gotten so paranoid about getting unwanted "life on live rock" su...

Re: Low pH
Hard to say without knowing your system. Nine fish sounds like a lot unless you have a pretty large, established tank. What are you using for filtration also? A lot of methods create a ton of nitrate. Also what skimmer? Protein skimmers do such a nice job of removing pollutants before they break dow...

Re: Low pH
Looks like to Doug's point, the high nitrate is likely what caused the anem to start stressing more so than the ph drop. Mine swings naturally from 8.3 to 8.0 in the course of a 24 hr period, if you are using test kits try checking it just before the lights go out then again in the morning. If you a...

Re: rock putty.
The 2 part epoxy products are not adhesives quite simply, as you found out. Best use is, find a hole in rock, pack it with epoxy, poke frag in, wait. Gerwin's suggestion is what I have found to work the best, particularly cable ties and a masonry bit. I don't think anything would really work to glue...

Re: acropora pest
Generally you don't treat the display, these type of products kill just about anything invert wise. If you catch it early, dipping pieces themselves a few times will take care of it.

Re: Nitrate\brown algae
How old is your tank first off? If its 2-4 months old this may just be part of your cycle and should even out as it finishes. If not, the nitrites and algae are both a sign that you have too much waste of some sort. Too much of a bio-load, overfeeding or any other source (dead fish, coral, sponges) ...
