Re: Painted Rock!?!?

Gerwin, you are of course the expert...

And I haven't actually seen the rock, only looked at the pictures...but it looks exactly like my real rock with coralline growth.

If that looks fake, my whole tank looks fake :(

Good lord, is that a crab? I'm gonna have nightmares about that thing.

Re: Announcing AQUARIUM IDOL contest

If you let your sump run low, it'll make a cool fizz effect from the returns. I think I can work that in with a strobe effect from my malfunctioning bulb, and then zoom in on my shrimp eating one of my dead fish. It'll be a little shock-factor, but I think I can get some votes off of it.

Speaking of pests...

What's the difference between a dirty bird and a dirty bath tub?

A dirty bath tub has a ring.

Re: ID...Pests?

I'll swing by and get one from Gerwin then. It was in the way the float was made...it was supposed to be tied down by the cord, so the entire thing floated or didn't, and a slider inside the float would kick on or off. There was no way to reverse it by securing it upside down somehow (I tried). It w...

Re: ATO and Sump build

bluwtr, I'm going to commandeer your thread instead of starting a new one for this simple question. Where do I get a float switch that will kick on when the water in the sump is low and off when it's high? I have an old powerhead and a 10-gallon tank to set up a top-off. The switches at Lowes and Ho...

Re: ID...Pests?

Feather dusters...that's a great description! Thanks!

Now if someone could tell me where to get a float switch that turns on when the water is low and off when it's high, instead of vice versa, that'd be great :)

ID...Pests?

So, yeah, I'm gonna continue to test this whole "no question is too basic" thing. I'm seeing a variety of little tiny things coming out of my live rock, and it's pretty sudden. Since I'm sure nobody remembers, this is a pretty new 125g reef tank, only two bulbs running only about 4-5 hours...

Re: Wiring Question for Sump Area

@bluwtr...I think that was meant to be directed at Redfish, but yeah, you pretty much laid out the process as I would do it. :) I have all the breakers labeled and mapped...one of the first things I did when I moved in to the house. It comes in handy often. It's pretty convenient knowing you only ha...

Re: Wiring Question for Sump Area

Full disclosure: When I do this, I'll be wiring multiple sockets off of the one that's already there. So I'll remove that socket, strip the wires, and split into at least three plates (probably two with switches). The reason for this is only because I have a cathedral ceiling in the living room, and...
