Patty and I again want to thank Joel, Archie, and Tien for allowing us into their homes to see their beautiful aquariums. We also want to thank you, Gerwin, for arranging it. We got to see how meny of the things we have been looking at (to add to our tank) actually work! We also saw several new ways...

I just came from a local plexiglass supplier. I was told by him that a couple other people who had bought his plexiglass to make sumps complained that within 3 weeks the saltwater had melted (his words) the surface turning it white. I have never heard ot this. Has anyone else? I would think that it ...

Plexiglass sump/refugium

I find myself in need of a new sump/refugium. I am thinking of making one using acrylic. I have seen on the web recommendations to use 1/4" and 3/8" thick plexiglass. The largest open span between joints for walls, baffles and floor will be 15" wide X 16.5" tall. The water level ...

Books I have read recently: Within the following books I found tips and tricks to reduce the maintenence time and make things much easier. There were answers to basic questions that I could not find the answers to anywhere else (except Gerwin, which with the number of questions I had would have left...

It is the solid red star (none brittle). Now the star keeps touching the sebea anemome. The star must have a death wish or something. If he doesn't stop pretty soon he will be coming out or maybe moved to the sump/refugium for a while.

Killer Serpent star?

I've had this clam that (since I got him just under 3 weeks ago) has never fully extended his mantel. It was known from the start the the clam was in a weakened state. He appeared to be recovering as his mantel has been extending further. He had also attached to the rock where he had been placed. Ye...

New Discovery - Flatworms?

At the store today I was trying unsuccessfully to describe a recent new discovery. They are almost transparent (like a jellyfish), rounded at the front with two pointed tail like shapes in the back. They are about 1/16" to 1/8" long (expand and shrink) and have no skeleton. The rounded fro...

Just saying Hello

I just started in this hobby last March so to say "newbie" is an overstatement of my knowledge. I have started a 75 gallon reef tank and currently have just a couple of fish and corals. One of the first things I read on the web was to pick one person who is extreemly knowledgeable and foll...
