Laying eggs on the glass sounds like cerith snails, but your description sounds like a nassarius snail. Nassarius snails are small carnivores that live in the sand and will eat uneaten food. I had some blood parrots that got huge, well over 10". Awesome fish that live for a long time.

That sounds like a lot of evaporation for your setup, what causes higher Evap is a lot of surface disruption and higher velocity of air moving across the surface of the water. That depends really, how much flow and surface disruption do you have and what temp do you run your tank. Is your tank covered? 1 1/2 gallons sounds a little high to me, my tank doesn't Evap that much and I'm almost 2.5 times your volume. I'd check to make sure the subfloor isn't wet or the inside o...
