19th Century Invert Models in Glass

The Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, NY concerns itself with all things glass. The current featured exhibit is the marine invertebrate models of Leopold and Rudolf Blaschka, which they painstakingly created in glass between 1863 and 1890. By coincidence, I had the occasion to visit the conservati...

Re: MOre PodCasts

That one is *only* 155MB. .wav is an uncompressed format, what you use to burn music CDs. Your old setup recorded .mp4a, which is at least compressed and small like .mp3. You *fixed* what was not broke.

Re: MOre PodCasts

Dude, why on Earth are you recording these as .wav files? This one is over 200MB. The same in .mp3 is only 9MB. You ain't Beyonce, you know.

Your new app is creating podcast files 30 times larger than before, 135MB for this one vs. an average of 4MB previously.

Re: How to get that darn Gravel Vac started

The pinch and fill technique is also useful to get that tank-to-toilet garden hose siphon started for major draining purposes. If you're by yourself, and you don't want to flood your bathroom, you need to secure the hose at the toilet end first; often, putting it under the seat/lid is sufficient.

Images need to be a max 1024 pixels the largest dimension. Try using the [rimg] tags instead to see if it will work.

Smart design. The reflectors and U-shaped tube in the chamber maximize UV exposure and contact time at the chosen flow rate.

Re: Bio filter in established planted tank

It shouldn't. If the Fluval is merely being added to the existing filtration, the bacterial colony that's already established in the tank should expand (somewhat) to populate the media in the new bio-filter. But there should not be an ammonia or nitrite rise.

Re: Tapatalk app. input and discussion here

A very good forum software platform, but not free like the phpBB3 this forum currently uses. I use it on another forum I have.

Re: Tapatalk app. input and discussion here

In fact, you want to use the 1024x768 for Tapatalk hosted images, b/c that's what you'll see when you click on the small photo in the post from a computer-- the biggest image possible. Hint: On vBulletin forums, the image gets auto-sized by the forum software without having to edit the tags.

Re: What Is It?

Diatom filters weren't cheap, especially the XL, but running one constantly for two weeks would typically cure an ich outbreak w/o any chemicals.

Re: Tapatalk app. input and discussion here

If you choose Tapatalk hosted for the image, 1024x768 should be OK, you should be seeing the Tapatalk image URL between [img ] tags in the post editing window before you hit Submit. If you change/edit [img ] to [rimg ] and [ /img] to [ /rimg] (ignore spaces added), then press Submit, the image shoul...
