sounds like skimmer is working, and seems your feeding habits are not out of line. maybe cut back some and see if that lowers nitrates, if not maintain feeding habits as not to starve fish have you checked your ro post water for nitrates??? how long has tank been setup, usually reef tanks take anywh...

not sure about fire retardant material, but you could make wood spacers to mount between the reflector and bottom of canopy. i would make the spacers at least one inch or more. then of course the next thing to make sure is that you have about 4-6 inches from water line to bottom of bulb. here is how...
