Re: i have a couple questions
I am not knocking anyone's method by any means, I learned it the hard way myself. And yes Redfish is correct, you cannot walk into a store to look at guppies and walk out with a turnkey sps system. But with the overwhelming amount of available information and helpful people in this hobby there is no...

Re: i have a couple questions
My tank is pretty close to being presentable and you are welcome to have a look...no stalking required. I have to go against the grain here, if you want an sps tank I wouldn't start with soft corals first. The design of your system needs to be based on what you ultimately want to keep. If you set up...

4 degrees sounds like a lot of temperature swing to be running just 4 T5s. What size is your tank? And what are you using to check your temperature? we found out today at the shop he was missing a important component to the temperature game :shh: .....a thermometer , but its all good now!...

Re: Sump/Refuge
Also depends on what you want to accomplish with it. If you just want to grow pods then nothing much is required. If you are looking for a viable nutrient export, its a whole new ball game. Like Gerwin said, it can be involved and expensive. Personally I would take whatever money and space you have ...

Re: Calcium in fish tank
I've not heard of needing to supplement Ca in a fw tank, but depending on your ph the cuddle bone may not dissolve much or at all.
As mentioned supplements are readily available but I would use them very sparingly in fw.

Re: green chromis spawning
Its funny I have really been wanting to do a big fresh water planted tank for a while. If I had not sold my 120g, I was going to do live plants and like 200 cardinal tetras.Archie wrote:once you go saltwater you will never go back.
