Post by cedawood » Fri Sep 07, 2012 9:19 pm

I got a nice size toadstool coral from g yesterday and i notice that it has lost a significant amount of size on its top surface and its stem seems shorter. it is place high in the tank and i have mh and i have t5 lights. flow is med to high but i don't know my calcium or ph or nitrates.

It always takes some time for a new coral to adjust to a new environment(different water, light and flow). Without knowing your water parameters I'd say just give it some time. As you add more corals, you do need to measure and maintain your calcium levels (amongst other levels). Good luck.

You night try moving it lower in your tank. It may not like the mh lights to start out. May just take some time getting use to them. Also, almost every time I bring home a leather coral, it will close down for a few days and then open back up big as ever.
And this is just my opinion, but my leathers did not like me using gfo. But like I said, this is just my opinion and everyone's tanks are different. Mine has been called a freak of nature.

Glad to hear things are going well with your tank and that your toadstool is happier!
