48 gal rimless sps tank

Post by Kouki Monster » Thu May 10, 2012 2:23 am

I finally got some time to post some pictures of the new setup.
Tank- 48 gallon rimless from reef octopus with low iron glass
Lighting- 4 maxspect mazarra p series modules with controller
Flow- 2 mp40's with mag 9 return
Filtration- koralin sulfur denitrator, phosphate and carbon reactor
Skimmer- reef octopus xp1000sss
Controller- apex (still figuring out lol)

So far the nitrates in the tank were at 3 when I first setup the system but now it has gone down to about .1 and phosphates have stayed pretty much undetectable on sailfert test. I hope I can keep things going smooth with this system.

Tank was setup on April 27th
I need more sand...

Yeah I've noticed sps dominant tanks aren't too popular around here for some reason. They're the only reef tanks I like really if done right. I hope Gerwin can get some colonies and frags one day soon.

Yeah I have been already lol. You must be the one that buys all the good stuff before I even see it lol. He got a nice shipment in like two weeks before I was able to setup the new tank and all the pieces I wanted were gone by then. I need to stop being lazy and finish the tank cause all my equipment is just temporarily hooked up so it looks like a mess right now. I had a chance finally to program a few of the outlets on the apex but for some reason it won't turn on the heater even when the temp drops to 76. I've tried rewriting the sequence but can't manage to make it do anything with the heater...guess I should read the manual for once lol.

Post your code here I'll clean it up for you. And make sure the settings on the heater are right.

This is mine, My fallback is set to ON because I have my heaters set to 81 anyhow and if the apex goes wacky my heaters will act as backup. If your heater is controlled only by the apex then set the fallback to off.

Fallback ON
If Tmpx7 < 78.0 Then ON
If Tmpx7 > 79.0 Then OFF
If Tmpx7 < 75.0 Then OFF
Min Time 010:00 Then OFF

Fallback ON
Set OFF
If Temp < 77.0 Then ON
If Temp > 78.0 Then OFF
Defer 002:00 Then ON
Defer 001:30 Then OFF
If Temp < 70.0 Then OFF

I tried your code as well and changed the temp name and number higher to see if it would turn on and it still wouldn't do anything. The temperature on the heater is set at about 78.

Remove the Set OFF command (or turn it to set on) and try turning your temp to over 80 on the heater. It's either the set off command or the heater's internal temp gauge that's messing with the outlet. Also make sure the outlet is set to auto not manual off

Thanks man I sure will. Ever since I got everything stabilized I've noticed more and more new polyps forming.

I got the heater working finally. I think it was the set off command at the beginning. Thanks Scott!
