Suggestions on frag tank

Post by fire905safety » Sat Feb 15, 2014 5:05 pm

Guys/Gals I'm looking for ideas. I have a spare 24gal aquapod, 150w MH, pumps and all kinds of extra hardware that i have collected over the years. I'm looking for ideas on building a frag tank. I really want to drill the back of the tank and add a sump to add better filltration and a skimmer. Is this overkill for a small frag tank? I need this tank to be somewhat low maintenance because I work out of town on occasion.

Questions?
Is a sump on a tank this small overkill?
If I do drill it, should the system be set up by itself or tie into display?
Is a 150w sunpod MH too much?
Should i plan on dosing pumps?
Anyone intetested in giving me a fragging 101 hands on lesson?
Are their any trusted web sites that might be useful?
Fragging and propogation is new to me so any advice would be great.

Id be awful bored to drill a 24 gallon, I don't think its needed IMO.

Is a 150w sunpod MH too much? put it high enough as to not burn coral or over heat water and its should be fine, since you have it...
Should i plan on dosing pumps? if your to lazy to add manually or busy yes

Im thinking of just plumbing it into sump of display. This way i wont need more dosers or a seperate sump. It will also minimize maintenance. Do you see any obvious problems with doing this?

That's the way I'd do it.
