Ok here is the situation, Redfish was very generous and gave me a red rose annemoe a few months back, i put it in my bc29 tank and he immediatally started getting big so i had to move him to my 90, My problem is not with that annemoe but with the origional white annemoe i have in the biocube, the rose never touched that annemoe but it started shriviling up and his skin has these places on it that looks like it is starting to decay or something he has been shrivled and nasty looking ever since then i figured i would give it some time to see what happens but he is not getting better. another thing that happened was my blue anfillia xenia's almost all died out, i moved them to the 90 and they are doing much better, again the rose never touched them, in fact ironically all of the corals that the rose touched are doing just fine. i have checked all parimeters in that tank every month and it is ALWAYS the samenever different, 0 ppm to every thing bad. calcium always 380, salinity always 1.025. ph always around 7.8. i also got a galaxia coral from him that was not doing very well it was turning brown and looks like it was starting to die. I put it in the bc29 for a short time but high up and away from everything and its tentacles barely extended beyond its body so i know it never touched anything either. The galaxia has recovered quite nicely.
Am i right in my thinking that annemoes and galaxia's do not release toxins into the water? any guesses as to why this happened? about 3 days ago i replaced the carbon bag in my biocube tank in the thinking that if there is some kind of toxin in the water maybe the carbon will absorb it.
annemoe problems in my bc29 tank. Help!

temp? I mean from what you state all should be well, but if you had something else not looking well and then moved it out and its doing better, I would think that is a pretty good sign that there is something not right, maybe beyond your testing ability etc.
Big water change is always a thing to do when in doubt. Dilution is the solution to pollution. Being a 29 biocube is a easy change, hell you may even consider using your 90 water as the replacement and change 90 tank.

Re: annemoe problems in my bc29 tank. Help!
Thanks for the reply. temp on the nano is low:78.5 high 82.3. i have a probe that keept track of high and low temp.
I have been doing 4-5 gal water changes 2x month (this drains the tank almost %50) Not a bad idea about using the water from the 90. Maybe it is possible that some kind of toxin was introduced into my system when i put the annemoe and galaxia in, and because its a nano tank it's effect is multiplied because it is not as diluted. i dont know. I will continue to do water changes and will do some extra for the nano and see if annemoe recovers. the rest of the corals in the tank are doing GREAT they are growing pretty fast too, maybe the system is ok now due to water changes and the annemoe is just having trouble recovering??

so here is what I take from a thread which things can get lost in the translation of the typing.Gz28 wrote:Thanks for the reply. temp on the nano is low:78.5 high 82.3. i have a probe that keept track of high and low temp.

you do a water change every 2 weeks, FANTASTIC BUT, to do that as part of your great maint. does not mean you would not do one the day you see a issue with your tank.
Water change should be one of everyones first reactions to a possible tank problem along with careful observations.
And then we must all remember these are just object they are living creatures and the one thing we know for sure about life is death, what we do not have a full grasp of is what all could bring this about sooner than later. So you do the best you can for the animals you have decided to care for and then pray, its the most anyone can do

Re: annemoe problems in my bc29 tank. Help!
Thanks for your help! i feel bad that i did not do extra waterchanges in the beginning,
the only thing i did different with the first 2 water changes is to do larger than normal water changes. but now i know i should have done a few extra waterchanges. next time something happens i will definitally do that. thanks for being patient with me and helping me out.
