THANK YOU SANDY AND JENNINGS! 2nd TOT Successful almost.....

Post by Gerwin » Sat May 01, 2010 5:52 am

we lost fine TOT participants on I10 on the trek from Sandy's to Jennings, Jason and Laura. "The no hobbyist left behind" motto will never be the same  , we will blame the fact that there were to many big white trucks to follow on the road that night

But the highlights:
Sandy's tank was awesome! old school beauty, proving you neither have to have high tech or SPS to have one hell of a fantastic aquarium, full of color, diversity and TEXTURE ! absolutley one of the best looking tanks I have seen in a long time. AND the sandwiches and chips and drinks...well it will be heck of a act to follow for the next tour stop for sure.

Jennings and his in wall tank also bring a nice look , going for mainly SPS and showing how easily it can be done , with the additives and the small grow out section in his sump with 70 par worth of lighting!
His acropora were beautiful and well worth another visit in the future to see the phenomenal growth that will occur in a few months! and although not everyone took advantage of his long island ice tea and beer.... I did ...it helped dull the pain of looking at all those bright lights 8)

Thanks to both of them for helping us kick start.....4- 6 weeks we will line up a couple more stay tuned and maybe this time we will have 0% hobbyist loss on the trip

Sorry I couldn't make it guys/gals...right when I was going to call Gerwin and give him a hard time for not giving me directions, I realized my skimmer had filled my stand full of water and was starting to flood the dining room...remember to dial back your skimmer when you add a significant amount of epoxy (or any foreign matter) or it could happen to you.

So I spent my evening engulfed in the hobby, just not the way I prefer.

Yes Gerwin I know, rookie mistake

Pictures of my tank are in the members gallery. There were a couple of folks taking pictures during the tour, maybe they will be kind enough to post up some of there pics for us.
