i have had the sailfin for about 3 months and then my wife bought me a lipstik tang i had them together about 2 days the saifin was chasing the lipstik i have them seperated can i put them back together after a few days

sure but this is not uncommon, Sailfins are gonna be that way, and the more you remove and replace the better the chances of stress related disease. Usually after a few days the boss has been determined and you can relax. Try changing the tank around (redecorate), putting a mirror next to tank sometimes gets aggressor obsessed with themselves and offers relief to new fish etc.

Fighting almost always happens when a established fish has a new tank mate; just like dogs someone wants to be alpha.

One thing I've found is that I used to increase feeding for a few days when introducing a new tang. I have 7 tangs in my 125 and have luckily not had many problems. One thing I also do is put up a barrier(like my dip net) for the new fish to hide behind and usually within 2-3 days the chase is over(like Gerwin said). Also as Gerwin said don't keep moving the new fish in and out as that will increase its stress and start everything over again.

Thanx everyone for your advice after 3 days in solitary the sailfin is bac in the main tank no fighting everything is good
