Kinda sad day at the house

Post by guitarest » Wed Oct 26, 2011 1:48 am

Well after a few discussions with a few here I finally let the Spade fish go tonight. A few factors came into play here the most important was this fish was getting huge. He measured approx 11 inches from the dorsal fin where it attached to his body to the bottom of his stomach. He was becoming aggressive towards his tank mates and actually beating up on the Sea Robin and ate a Sailfin Catfish. Or tried to finish eating the small catfish, I pulled the dead catfish out of the tank and gave the body a royal flush. So tonight after feeding the tank, Flipper the Spade Fish ate 3 whole shrimp I caught him in a net and within 10 minutes he was in the Gulf of Mexico. He hung around for a few minutes then turned away and swam into deeper waters until he finally disappeared from my sight. Well I wish him a happy life and you never really know how big something is until you remove him from the tank....
