So here is a pic of a customers tank who has less computer skills than I, so I put it up for him.
Now points of interest here for readers is how minimal the tank "Extras" are.
2 65wt power compact bulbs of a 45 Hexagon tank,
1Fluval 305 canister filter
2 Hydor Koralia
and a partial water change every other week of about 10 gallons,
Tank is over one year old and is VERY NICE!!!!

So here is yet another successful reef tank with minimal hardware, again I repeat:
Should you invest in some better filter, skimmers, lights....sure if you got the money, you can't go wrong BUT can it be done without? YES IT CAN!!
These are just two examples of the many many tanks I have seen over my DECADES of doing this, and its one of the reasons I am open to just about any attempt to do a reef if you are willing to do the water changes, have the basic lighting and current with some sort of chemical filtration. Its also why I am not all about refugiums, calcium reactors, and many other things that absolutely work and do there intent, but for me its always been about what you need and not what you can get or do. HUGE difference!

All that being said I am here to help you in any direction you care to go the best I can  .
