Okay, so I tested my water and my Ca+ is 447ppm (Hanna) and my alk was 2.16 meq/L (Hanna). Using an online chemistry calculator to raise my alk to 4.4 which is balanced for my Ca+ reading it suggested dosing 702ml which is about 23oz. I slow dosed half of that and now I've got a white precipitate on all of my glass. I know that saturated water will cause Ca+ to precipitate out, but I don't feel I've done that, so what do you all say? This isn't the first time this has happened and it's been smaller doses then. I'm am using ESV B-Ionic 2 part for additives.

Have you double checked your levels? I hae found with the Hanna Checkers making sure all of the reagent gets out is critical to accurate readings. I gave up bulk dosing and went to pumps.

Yeah, I'm really thorough about my testing and accuracy--I actually published an article in Tropical Fish Hobbyist back July. In fact I'm actually OCD about it. I've checked my readings through my Red Sea Pro kits as well and it gave the same reading. The only thing I can think of is maybe it dosed too quickly. I just don't get it.
