Re: 300 DD
Forgot how expensive mistakes are in this hobby so after several weeks of issues my own fault...
Lost All but 2 of our Acros but no fish sometimes you have choices....
Worked this weekend on electrical
one of two 30 AMP GFI tied to Radions Pharoes and battery backups
A few tank shots
Blue Stag, Thanks Jarrod

Re: 300 DD
Bout time you gave us an update The electrical is looking good, nice and neat, not like mine, I need to redo mine. I thought I had this nice plan thought out before I set my tank up, didn't turn out the way I had it envisioned though, but its nothing that can't be fixed, I just need to figure out where I am going to get a little bit more space. I figured I would buy a 4ft. tank put it on a 6ft. stand and I would have plenty of space. Is that a UV Sterilizer I see in the first pic, that thing looks like a beast. What is that thing sitting on the floor in front of your chiller? Just wondering, how often does your chiller kick on? Not trying to be nosy here, we all lose corals and fish in this hobby, have certainly lost my fair share, just lost one of my new Yuma corals, not the pretty one though yet and you don't have to answer this if you would rather not. What did you do to lose those acro's, we learn by others errors so you might be helping someone else if you did answer. Anyway, keep up the good work.

Re: 300 DD
I have a small tower fan to help with air movement on the chiller. What started as a small ich problem created by a 4 or more degree temp swing. I did not have the Chiller running and the A/C was off in the house. I then dropped the salinity over about 4 days to 1.018 the LPS started to look peaked so I brought it back up to 1.020 hooked up a second UV what you see are 2 sterilizers mounted on the bottom of the tank. At day 7 of the lowered salinity we noticed some bleaching of one of the Acros, I was dosing ich attack with the low salinity and not running the skimmer. At day 9 we had lost the first peice total bleached out, started an 8 day increase to bring salt back up to 1.026 but in the interium the massive changes I put the tank thru got the ACRO's everything else has survived. The Chiller comes on at 80 heaters at 78.5 so I now have a 1.5 degree temp swing max. temp seems to stay around 79 - 79.5 most of the time. Seems to kick on and off thru the day I am trying to figure out how to graph the temp thru 72 hours or so so I can see what is going on. Yes the 2 UV's are hugh but I flowing 600GPH thru 2 of them to keep the system clean and with 300 or so gallons of water everything has to be big. I am going to take a pic of the skeletons and post it as a reminder. As Scott Allen says "GO SLOW LET IT GROW" More to come on the saga of the Shadow.......

Looking good Richard. Glad to hear things are starting to look up for you. Would be great to see a FTS with the very side edges being at the edge of the camera frame. I don't think I remember seeing you post one straight on like that.
Keep up the fight!

Great pics Richard! The number of fish you have is amazing. That much motion must make you feel like you've got the scuba tanks strapped on.
The visual of your "puppy" licking the glass cracks me up!

He chases the fish and tries to eat them thru the glass it is crazy funny when he gets started just has some powerful slobber glue it is a PITA to clean off the glass especially if you let it dry.

Re: 300 DD
Tank is looking great Richard. Would love to see some macro shots if you can get them. Just FYI, even if you don't have a high end camera, most point and shoots have a macro setting usually denoted by a "flower" on the dial. If you've never shot in macro, you will need to make it very steady otherwise it will blur. Before I had access to a high end, I would put the P&S on a tripod, and set the timer for the short delay. That way I could press the shutter release and remove my hand. Actually worked pretty well.

Owned a portrait studio for close to 25 years till Katrina took it out. Just use an Olympus Pen now don't ever pull out the big stuff anymore. There are over 12 full boxes of coral in the tank anything in particular you want to see? Colors are fading too little flow and chemistry changes till I can get everything stable.

They are going to shock. They should come back with a vengeance though.Shadow1 wrote:Owned a portrait studio for close to 25 years till Katrina took it out.
