200g Reef Octopus Skimmer

Post by Redfish » Fri Apr 26, 2013 4:18 am

In my quest for keeping SPS Corals in my tank, I have upgraded the Skimmer in my system. So, what I have is my old Reef Octopus 200g system Skimmer that will be collecting dust in my shed. I am pretty sure that it needs a new pump, which you can order from Gerwin, I think the pump runs about $90. It may not need a pump, but you can fool with the Skimmer to see what you can do with it. This is an old skimmer about 7 or maybe 8 years old, not sure what the model number is, the papers that had come with it, don't know what happened to them. So here's the deal, you can have the Skimmer, if you don't get it working, you owe me nothing, but must return the Skimmer to me, if you do get it working, you owe me a 200g box of Instant Ocean Salt that The Gerwin has on sale right now for $39.99.

Its about 16" X 9" My sump is a 40 breeder tank, the chamber that I had the skimmer in was 17" long by how ever wide a 40 breeder tank is. Its a old skimmer and looks old, but if you were to put another pump on it, should be good for another few years. The skimmer is just a acrylic housing with a pump on it. Replace the pump and you should be ready to go. I wanted to upgrade my skimmer for SPS corals anyway, the pump going out, just made up my mind for me. The pump may still be good, I didn't mess with it to much   I told the wife see   its broke, we need to get another one.

You still have this? Looking for something like this to make a lanthanum choride reactor.
