ceramic liverock!
I have been reading about ceramic liverock. And I'm wondering if anyone has used it. I have my own kiln and an going to make some for my 10 gallon. So any input would be great.

Re: ceramic liverock!
I know several people with it, not sure how they make it porous without it exploding in the kiln. If you can do it I think it is a great idea. Look up vidarock not sure of the spelling they have some beautiful pieces expensive though. It may give you some ideas.
Please post what you come up with, I would like to see the results.

Re: ceramic liverock!
Went to the USM ceramic show and sale yesterday a girl there had a couple pieces looked a lot like the vidarock pieces, they were glazed though, talked to her about making some that are not glazed. Have to wait till fall semester but she thinks 40 for a 18x18 Bonsai tree shape is doable....

You can buy 25 pounds of clay for $25. And twenty five pounds would be equal to about seventy five our a hundred pounds of live rock. If you build your own I can fire it for you. I can fire pieces 22 inches round and 22 inches tall.

Re: ceramic liverock!
I like it
you really have a great talent
There is only one thing I kinda don't like about it, if it were going into my tank. Its the leaves on the center flower, that's a good place for all sorts of crude to build up. If you are going to make pieces for Saltwater tanks, which I think you should
I would stick to making the kinda strucutures like Vida rocks is making. jmo When you would put corals on it to grow, at some point you won't see much of the structure as the corals grow.
