Try Amazon. The top sellers are usually a good way to get an idea of what's popular, and when you view an item, there's that list of "percent of people who viewed this bought either this or whatever else".

There are two options-- either a webcam (USB) or a network cam that connects to your home network via ethernet and you open a port for it in your router so you can stream video or snapshots to the outside world. I have an Intel webcam that works rather well, but Intel got out of that market last year-- Logitech is probably the main brand now. Axis makes some cool network cams like this one.

Here's a link to Top Selling webcams.

thanks for info and links, will take a look.

just not sure how much to invest in a webcam.
seen them from about $30 up to about $250 at office depot.

probably going to use a network cam since my tank is about 60 feet from tank, plus i can connect directly to my router

Axis is pretty much the big name in network cams-- even if you've never heard of them. The 2100 was the best seller for the longest before the smaller and just-as-capable 205 came out. My Intel was $99, but when they got out of the market, they dropped the price to $49-- I was able to get Amex to do a best value guarantee and credit me $50.
