When I first started my aquarium, I think it was about the 4 week mark when I added 10 hermit crabs and 10 snails. then a week later I added 2 Fighting conch's (or as my kids call them "Crazy Eye Bills"). They are good for sifting the sand and they keep the sand and rocks nice and clean!
