Fish Trap???

Post by JusJami » Thu May 19, 2011 7:51 pm

Anyone have a fish trap? Gerwin has one ordered but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask everyone. I'm desperate.

You can make one using a 20oz drink bottle. Remove the label and rinse the bottle. Cut the top 1/3 off (basically where the taper ends). Stick the top back into the bottom part so that you form a inverse cone. Tape or hot glue in place. Cut a few holes to allow water flow and then put a small piece of shrimp or some other food. Place the trap in the tank where the fish/ crab usually travels/hangs out and wait. If it's just a crab I've read about using a glass bottle with some food proped on an angle. Once a crab gets in the sides are too slick for it to be able to climb out.

Maybe try a 2-liter instead. Cut the top as suggested above, and cut the neck off the top part to make a bigger hole in it.

You can still use the 20oz, but just do as Doug suggested and remove the neck section. It just has to be big enough for it to slip through one time.
