Lighting Question

Post by ArtD » Tue Aug 07, 2007 1:55 pm

As a firm believer that there are no stupid questions I ask the following.

I have seen the IceCap Electronic Ballast and it has been recommended as something I should get for my tank.

How does it set-up? Does it install to a pre-existing light system as an upgrade or does it install in some other manner?

I think you can order a wiring harness with it to help with your wiring needs.

I guess I need a little more information on the ballast itself. Once I get a wiring harness.....then what?

Does it go into an existing lighting system?
Does it stand-alone?
Is it powered by elven magic?

Ok....I have the ballast and I'm pretty sure I can get it wired with minimal difficulty.

I think, however, I need a reflector. Otherwise I envision a lot of light coming through the top of my canopy lighting up the entire room.

GERWIN......you guys carry any?

the retro kit has all things needed for hook up with exception of a few misc hardware items,

as far as light coming up, is your canopy vented on top? if so then a reflector would be in order, if it is solid it should be no problem and the bulbs you purchased are internally reflected. I will admit that a good reflector can maximize your total light output dramatically. I am out of 4' 's at the moment but will get some asap

Yeah...it's vented. I'll watch this space for the reflector and probably get it with the refugium.
