website questions, suggestions.
ok i have one or 2 things that aggervate me a little maybe it is something that could be changed, or maybe i am just tarding out(lol i just made that up)
1st. when i am reading and repling to posts and i want to go back to all of the posts like it looks when you first get on the site "www.fishystuff.net" the only way i can do that is to use the back button several times, and then sometimes it says page expired, if that happens the only way would be to go foward and click on the home button.....but wait there is no home button so now there is a couple more options, 1 click the fishystuff.net at the top where it has the path to the post that you are on the only problem with that is it takes you to (index.php) and everything is all sorted in categories. 2nd option would be to click view new posts but when you dont get the whole list like you do on the origional page. so the only option left is to click fishystuff.net and then delete the /forum/index.php.
Can we get a Home button or better yet a "Gz28's" happy page button on the post pages and post reply pages.
And the second thing is.......crap i forgot the second thing while writing that one. LOL i just "tarded out"......im sure it will aggervate me again! when it does i will post it on here.

This happens to me also, I just sign off the site and go back in. It also happens to me on other web sites. I have found if you hit the go back arrow a couple of times, it will get you back, but its easier to just sign off the site and go back in.

This is what I do, and see if it works for you.
I enter the site from http://www.fishystuff.net.
I view the list of newest posts on that main page. Bear in mind these are just the chronologically newest posts, not "new since your last visit". That list also excludes some off-topic forums, and Classifieds. I scan down the list to see what I think appears to be new since I last read the list, using the date/timestamp as a reference. Clicking on the note icon takes me to the last post in the thread. To return to the main page and list, I hit the link at the top right of the forum under the address and phone number. That link goes to the main site page again, not the main forum page. Lather, rinse, repeat.
There is better forum software out there that will show your unread posts for up to 30 days no matter how often you log in or where you log in from, but it's a little spendy. Maybe some day.

yep thats how I work it....hence the reason I rarely goto to classifieds and other forums as they do not appear on the main pageDoug wrote:This is what I do, and see if it works for you.

The only two forums excluded from the front page list are Classifieds and Guestbook.
Also, since I leave the site open in one of several tabs on my browser, the re-fresh List link is very handy, in that the most recent posts list can be updated easily with one click.

Also, note that clicking on the links in the main page list in the Topics column takes you to the first post in the thread.
That other software I was talking about goes so far as to take you to the first post you haven't read yet. e.g. a thread has five posts and you have read them all. You come back later and there are now ten total posts. You click on a "first unread" link, and it takes you to post number 6. Maybe after Ger finishes paying for the new display tank... Support your LFS!
