Tell us about your tank
My tank is a 180 gal reef and fish tank. I have a 30gal sump with a foam filter in one of the slots and on top of that I have a strip of mixed media filter, and on top of that I have a strip of micron filter that catches all kinds of minute particles. I have to change the micron filter about every other day, boy, you would not believe the crud it pulls out of the water. The only other thing I have in my sump is the pump to return water to the tank. I don't have a protein skimmer, well I have one but I don't use it. No bio balls. I do have a few pieces of live rock in there. Pretty basic. Have live sand and lots of live rock, that's what I call my filtration system. I may be pushing the limits but like I have said before, it works for me. I can not promise it will work for you. I have 5 six foot t5 lights in my canopy. Will have to find out the wattage later. I have a good many different corals and fish. Some corals grow faster than others but they are all growing well. The only problem I have with fish is sometimes I like to push the limits and try to mix some fish that may not get along well with others. For example,,, bought 2 royal grammas about 2 weeks ago, they were beauties in the bags, have not seen them since I let them out. I have a sixline wrasse that has quite the attitude and a purple pseudochromis that is a bully as well. They are probably the culprits who have chased away the grammas. Other fish are naso tang, sailfin tang, blue hippo tang, two percula clowns, scooter blenny, pink spotted gobie, two green clown gobies, spotted mandarin goby, two cleaner shrimps, two emerald crabs, at least on peppermint shrimp, snails, and lots of hermit crabs. I'm sure I have forgotten a thing or two.

Step into the Wayback Machine:
My tank is a 90 gallon saltwater. It's an O'Dell tank, because they're the best. I had a custom glass cover made with cut-outs in the glass itself for the Hagen 800 power heads-- no nasty salt leach between plastic and glass that way, and the hinge is fiberglas-reinforced silicone.
The main filter is 4" of crushed coral gravel on top of an Aquology undergravel powered by the aforementioned Hagen 800s. As an auxiliary filter, I have an Eheim 2217 loaded with Kordon Bio-Mech Rings and Chemi-Pure. It was originally a 2017 with the lid-mounted centrifugal pump, but it finally pooped out and the newer model 2217 replacement pump head fit perfectly.
I have several real coral skeletons for decorations, as well as some buckskin rock boulders that I carved out myself with a masonry drill.
The animals are a 5" maroon clown, a 6" Majestic/Navarchus angel, a 6" Blue Ring/Annularis angel, a 5" Niger trigger, and a 3' zebra moray eel. The clown lives in a 3' wide Ritteri anemone I bought in Houston from Hawaiian Marine when they still sold fish. It got so big it finally divided into two anemones. One of the daughter anemones moved over the Niger trigger's favorite hiding hole one night, and it ate him. The remains of him it barfed up was the worst thing I ever smelled.
Oh, BTW, the year is 1986.

Re: Tell us about your tank
My tank is a 125g tank with a sump and a skimmer. I have about 230 pounds of live rock in the tank, I am running three MH and four T5 bulbs, I am going to try and up grade to at least a 225g tank this year, we will have to just see how that works out, but its my goal, so if you would like to buy a used 125g tank keep reading the post here, hopefully you will see it for sale, the lights won't be going with the tank though as I will be using them in the new tank.
