toadstool coral is shrinking
I got a nice size toadstool coral from g yesterday and i notice that it has lost a significant amount of size on its top surface and its stem seems shorter. it is place high in the tank and i have mh and i have t5 lights. flow is med to high but i don't know my calcium or ph or nitrates.

setup is a 75 gallon with a 20 gallon sump. uv sterilizer, gfo reactor, and protein skimmer. i have about 10 pieces of coral ranging from super small to baseball size. 2 reef chromis, 1 clown, 1 yellow tang, 1 six line, cleaner shrimp, coral banned shrimp, and snails.

- My SetUp: My set up:125 gl, Diablo Skimmer, 4 maxspect led, 125lbs + live rock, sand base, rose bubble tip anemone, mini carpet, 2 pair Perc and tomato clowns, yellow tang, coral beauty, red hawkfish, miss gobies and clean up crew. Corals: multiple leathers, acro's, mushrooms, donut, plate, etc... and growing

It always takes some time for a new coral to adjust to a new environment(different water, light and flow). Without knowing your water parameters I'd say just give it some time. As you add more corals, you do need to measure and maintain your calcium levels (amongst other levels). Good luck.

nitrates are 40, nitrite are 0, ph 8.0, kh 240, gh 180. waiting for my complete reef testing kit for the rest.(shipping now)

- My SetUp: 180gal saltwater reef, 6-80watt T5 lights, 2 powerheads in tank, 2 return pumps in a 40gal sump, uv sterilizer, gfo and carbon reactor.

You night try moving it lower in your tank. It may not like the mh lights to start out. May just take some time getting use to them. Also, almost every time I bring home a leather coral, it will close down for a few days and then open back up big as ever.
And this is just my opinion, but my leathers did not like me using gfo. But like I said, this is just my opinion and everyone's tanks are different. Mine has been called a freak of nature.

toadstool is so big now. I mainly use my t5 he love it but he does not seem to like the mh. Thanks for all your help. nitrates are 0 now, phosphate are .25 so i changed my gfo. cant get a good read on my calcium. will update soon
