I noticed that with your hundreds of posts, you're a Discus Member...ooooooooo, aaahhhhhhh...impressive 8) !

So what if I wanted to eventually reach your level bloviation but not as a "Discus Member" but as a "Reef Master"...or something like that

This is an equal opportunity forum right?

I usually tend to downplay the importance of post counts. I have always regarded it as merely a vague indication of how vigorously a member has participated on a particular forum, rather than how much they know. Since one could answer the most basic questions innumerable times, increasing their post count in the process, it would obviously be no valid measure of their expertise.

I simply chose a progression of titles that nostalgically harkens back to those basic freshwater fish we all (hopefully) tried our hand at keeping in our earliest days of the hobby. For those interested, these are currently the minimum number of posts to achieve a particular "rank":

Minnow Member 0
Guppy Member 10
Swordtail Member 25
Angel Member 50
Discus Member 100

leave it to Doug to tell it in a way that harnesses the power of the English language

I think minnow should be feeder goldfish, as it is by far the first fish put into the starter tank here in the last decade, but I understand that back in the day of old minnows is what cheapest I am sure.

I agree with Gerwin...who ever kept minnows???

FWIW - Some people never had freshwater tanks.

Lol sandy for some reason your reply and your name coincidentally being sandy, reminds me of sandy the squirrel from sponge bob. :-)

And Gerwin based on our conversation in the store a few days ago, i do not beleive it is an equal opportunistic enviroment. Apparently i am banned from being Big G, super G, daddy G....etc as those titles are reserved only for you. ;-)
