Yellow Watchman question...

Post by ReneM » Tue Aug 24, 2010 9:29 pm

Picked me up one of these cute guys today (along with a few more.. what a good day :) Anyhoo... gots a question...

From what I've seen online and at the shop, these guys hang out at the bottom. Mine is up at the top, has been since putting him in... staying in one particular area, about 4x4 inches, swimming a lot, kind of looks like he's "running in place" but with a bit more movement than that. What's up? Is this normal, is he stressed? Could there be a current there and that's messing him up? He hasn't gone down to the bottom to check out rocks, nothing... but otherwise appears to be ok..

thoughts?

Im going with stress, make sure no other fish are bothering him and not letting him go down, after that leave him be, maybe turn the lights off.

He died :( Thanks though...

Everyone else seems to be doing very well, except I can't see my convict gobie - he disappeared within seconds of being released into the tank... I read they dig, and there is now nice pile of small rock in the back. So I am guessing he is building him a house of some sort.

Sorry to hear! I love my Watchman Goby. Was one of the 1st fish i put in my tank. We named him Oscar cause he always looks mad. lol He has 2 or 3 small burrows under rocks in the front of the tank. Only time he ever leaves to go from one to another is when another fish bothers him. I hope you give another shot at one. They have a great personality and are really cool to watch.

The one that I got from the store also bit the dust last nite. Only thing I can figure is that maybe the shock from being such a small fish and in a larger tank did him in, who knows. :( on the good side, the three Fire Fish I got are doing good.
