Fish suggestions

Post by Chef Steve » Tue Jan 11, 2011 2:34 pm

I am currently setting up a 29 gallon tank. I currently have 5 snails, 5 hermits, and two yellowtail damsels. I would say I have around 20 lbs? Not exactly sure how much I have. I want to do a coral setup, but I still need the lights and feel like I have a bit more to learn before I go to this level. I was just wandering if anyone would have any suggestions on the type of fish that I could put in the tank. I have been reading about all of the tank size requirements on most fish. I just wanted some advice from people, that have had hands-on experience. Any help is welcome and appreciated. . . .Thanks

lol that hawk fish you would like him and he would love your rock work he eats that frozen brine shrimp that i showed you or you can go with a blenny or goby they are really good fish to put in your tank and would go good with your two yellow tail damsels

Ditch the damsels as they will become aggressive. They are great at first, but they get crabby as hell the more established the tank becomes. Obviously if you are wanting a reef tank, you will need reef safe fish: clowns, hawkfish, firefish, watchman goby, six-line wrasse and tons of others. I would recommend getting fish that stay small (> 3 inches). This will keep them from feeling crowded (makes for grumpy fish) plus you can have more in your 29 without a huge bioload. Gerwin can give you lots more suggestions.
